PROJECT OVERVIEW
A dance-led commercial for Goodman Fielder’s One Night in Mexico, created by The Works Sydney and directed by Ace Norton.
Set to Run-DMC vs Jason Nevins’ “It’s Like That,” the spot turns taco-making into a choreographed performance, bringing dancers, ingredients and food preparation into the same movement language.
CHOREOGRAPHY
My role began during casting, reviewing audition tapes from dancers across Australia and helping select performers whose individual movement qualities suited the concept.
The choreography extended beyond the dancers to the taco itself. Working with real, fresh ingredients meant considering how each action, shape and sequence would affect the food on camera. I developed movement around the visual and physical qualities of the ingredients, pairing performers and actions to keep the interactions believable and the food appealing.
The structure paralleled a dance crew coming together with the construction of the taco: distinct performers and ingredients, each bringing their own qualities, combining to create the winning team.
The finished choreography integrated authentic hip-hop movement, food preparation and camera-specific action throughout the commercial.
